I grew up in Northern Canada where moss and lichen are abundant.
I have realized that the Northern foliage has been directly influencing my work even before I was conscious of it doing so. My current body of work is informed by my curiosity for moss and lichen. This particular subject intrigues me because it elicits the viewer’s imagination. To imagine a miniature world unto itself; a whole ecosystem of fantastic colours, shapes and textures.It can only be truly appreciated when you physically get close and acknowledge it. I believe that my jewellery creations, using this influence will embody the essence of these lively and beautiful ecosystems.
